I like to win by building the space ship. I think it is more civilized to have a constructive goal instead of a destructive one, and after all the game is called Civilization;).

How do you prefer to win in Civilization?

well, it's just so easy. Any way at all works. It's all soooo simple with the first one

Spaceship. When I have conquered most of the world I finally find some time to really build up my Civ with streets, irrigation, etc.
So after all these thousands of years of endless bloodshed and conquest the launch of a spaceship is a satisfactory goal. I just always wished, there would have been a real sequel to Civ 1 where you could continue your history with exactly the ship you sent, i.e. did you send 10k or 40k colonists, in a large or small ship (resources)?
*sigh

I usually do a critical savegame after have built Appolo.
Then i can either build the Spaceship
or build factories, barracks/airports, bombers, carriers, armors and transports. sometimes nukes also.

I often try the two possible ends from that savegame.

i would love to conquer all the cities accept the capital of all nations :D no matter i have space ship or not ...

I like the ending to the conquest win (all the world hails Irish Caesar the conqueror!)
I was never really a huge fan of the space race win, even in civ3.
For me, the space race is a last resort: only when another nation starts it.

You can ... play Alpha Centauri (aka SMAC)!

And I voted for spaceship too ... it feels more 'concludy' than world conquest, which, you would presume, would fall apart into civil war and anarchy ...

I used to do either way but I wanted do it by total conquest! Ha , ha, haaa!

Civ 1, My favorite way to play would be to kill off every AI but the last city, then surround it with defensive units. This would keep them contained until the 'natural' end of the game, and allow me to rack up as big of a score as possible. :)

Civ 3? Culture all the way. I love the whole culture aspect (As I have always been annoyed by AI Civs colonizing inside my 'borders'.) And the first time I ever won a game of Civ3 was completely by accident... a Cultural victory at 2040 AD. :)

Mmmm.... Hero cookies.....

Yes thats what I like to do too! conquer every one except one city, and max out my score just before the time limit...

Out of all the options, conquest is the most fun!
