How do you type a division sign?

That and how do you type a multiplication sign. In the meantime I can use an X for division but I still need to know how to type both signs.
 
try typing in 246 while holding the alt key

*make sure num lock is on.
 
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Character Map. You can then browse through the characters and copy them to the clipboard.

Works for me too. Holding down the left alt key, pressing 2-4-6 on the keypad, and releasing left-alt.

somewhy i cant type it into the reply box, but it works fine in notepad
 
Usually on the net "/" is used for division ( 10 / 2 = 5) and "*" for multiplication (2 * 2 = 4).

The multiplication dot though is Alt-0183 (you have to include the zero).
 
I remember making an ASCII chart of alt-keypad sequences and the ASCII symbol it displayed once... :D
 
Isn't much help unless the forum involved supports it.
