I believe you place resources, units, cities etc. much in the same way you place the terrain squares. So it is all in there, I think. :)

Serched...i pushed every button, looked in every window...nada...nothing about placing units or cities or anything that resembles building a scenario...

Yes i do have the game...I have checked tha manuel...nada again...it doesnt mention the editor at all...index doesnt even have the word "edit" either...im gonna start to  soon if i dont hear some good news on this...

Well...i got to thinking...and I have come up with a viable answer to this problem...Firaxis is gonna do what they did with Civ2...they wont allow scenario editing until they have made a large patch or an add-on pack with scenarios and that is when the scenario editing tool will be given out...

Do you blame them wanting to wait until their scenarios are made so they dont look so bad compared to the user made ones?...

I for one, was lead to believe that we had a scenario editing tool shipped with CivIII...It upsets me they lead this on...

Ouch.

And no events files? I recall a few weeks ago Firaxis said they really wanted to support the Mod community, and would develop tools to do that. I thought at the time they would have included more in the original $60.00 game.

Oh well, its still very early. Maybe we are all just expecting too much.... it sounds like the game truely rocks. I trust we will find ways to create scenarios.

:p

That sucks, but I'm sure they'll release one eventually. I doubt I'll get bored playing before it comes out.

BTW, $60 is a ripoff (unless you got the tin). Mine was $45.

According to the editor help the civ3mod.bic is the "original" rules for the game. Unlike Civ II each scenario has rule modifications saved with the scenario file in .bic format. This eliminates the need to back up rules.txt.

How does messing with the civ3mod.bic help with unit and city placement not to mention scripts?

i know nothing about making scenarios,
but i do know that at Apolytons you can download a patch (yes, allready!) that makes it possible to have twice as much units.

guess that must interest you...

there is a scenario -editing tool.Instead of running civ3edit.exe (wich is the map tool) you have to run civ3mod.bic

Ive tried that...it still isnt a scenario editor...thats how you go about changing the rules for the actual Civ3 game, no such scenario help in there...

I have tried the Civ3 Editor help filess...no such luck with finding how to make a scenario in there...

"promises, schmomises!"

Now my anticipation dropped again. Why write a manual of this extent, and not include the editor? I did hear about the 4,4 MB editor help file though. But oh my! Does this sound like a last minute thing!

I(ve posted what I think in the not a scenario editor thread.

I hope

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
