How is the Power Calculation Done

Any body know how the power calculation is calculated.

Does it add up the total offense, or does it just add up the total number of units, or some other way.

If I upgrade a horseman (2) to a cavalry (6) does my power calculation go up by 4 points or does it not make a difference.

Are you speaking of the Power ratio, or the military power comparisons of the Mil Adv?

The later's forumla has been retroengineered - IIRC, it adds the (3*A+2*D)*HP + B for all units, and adds four.

For the former, I don't think anyone's found out.

I think you answered my question. I'm speaking of the power histograph representation in F8.

So it does what I hoped it was doing.

How on earth did someone figure out that formula? You'd need an awful lot of data to get that.

Did someone at Firaxis give out this info or did someone do a bit of testing.

I guess a Civ with no units will still have 4 points, otherwise you would not see them on the power histograph.

You could work it out using a scenario editor, a ruler and a lot of patience.

While I can not promise that formula is correct, I have learne that having swordsmen?MI protecting a city instead of spearment/pikemen makes you look a lot stronger to the AI. This tactic has greatly helped me (while a republic) while moving up to Emperor.
