Just wondering when you start a new game how long do you usually try to play for?

Depending on what else i've got on that day, 3+ hours. If i've got nothing at all on I can play almost all day though. I find if i take a lot of breaks (days at a time) I feel less driven to continue playing that game/map.

1-2 hours per session.

Probably about 4 hours or so of couch time per session.

According to my current game, it's about 1500 AD, and I've played for about 20 hours of gametime. Started it on 1/24. :D

Well, my record is 22 hours of non stop playing, although, a few years ago it wasn't uncommon for me to get home from work on Friday evening, fire up the PC and play until Sunday night (with sleep, food, toilet, and football breaks of course).

sadly, those days are over, now in the forces with a missus, my playing time is is down to 1 hour at the very maximum!

Nnever longer than 2 hours, mostly 60-90 minutes. Those long sessions make me dozy, and I have a life besides civ.
Downside is I need many sessions to finish a game.

What is this "life" thing of which you speak?

Amateur! :D

I once went for about 36 hours. I kept playing until I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.

wow 36 straight hours! I thought 22 was good!

I bow down to you kind sir, king of Civlongability! :worship:

I'm from the old school earth group.

Conquest/Domination/Culture only wins. No points, No space race, No tech trading.

Anytime you'd see a city hit legendary culture there would be about 8 declarations and the city was razed.

I think our record was a 40ish hour game over the course of 2 reloads. It was 2440 or something rediculous like that.

15-18 hour games weren't uncommon.

These were multiplayer of course.

If I play a game all the way through, a game takes me about 14 hours on normal, with each session lasting about 2 hours. I micromanage obsessively.

A lot of my games I don't even play all the way through. I have a bad habit of quitting between the classical and medieval eras. Someone on these boards recently said that a lot of the time, it's more enjoyable to just start a new game than to pick up one where you left off a few days ago. I agree with him completely.

I'll play 2-3 hour segments and beat a Normal speed game in about 8 hours.

Me too. I play huge maps, usually monarch difficulty, and most often Ket's Composite scenario. A game takes about 8 or 9 hours but I'll play in 2 to 3 hour increments.
