Hi all

How many turns of anarchy do non religious civilizations
go through after a revolution before the new government is installed? On which depends?

Thanks.

When a new government is available I have experienced 5 to 6 turns. But when I wished to revert to back to a monarchy from republic then it only took 3 turns.

It's random. Between 3 and 6 I would guess. If you choose a revolution from your City Advisor (F1) screen ("You say you want a revolution?"), your advisor will tell you how many turns it will take.

Such anarchy period can incur a serious penalty to your research, since six turns is the average time to discover an advance in a late industrial/modern democracy with an average number of cities.
Now, after two games i'm considering playing my third with a religious civ. Sometimes, when war gets nasty, democracy is not a valid option for goverment, even with Universal Suffrage, Police Station and everything else.

Not just research, but production and gold stay very low and corruption go to skyes.
But a religious civ is the answer?
I make 3 government changes during the game, the 15 turns in averege that I lost, my rivals will lost too (except religious ones). So I think the great thing with religious civs is the culture provided by the most easy builded religious facilities.
