I'm running low on hard drive space and I'm reinstalling civs on my macbook laptop. It's going to be running on a partitioned drive with windows on the other part of the same hard drive.

I need to know how much space I need to partition for Windows XP to run Civs. I know the official statement for hard drive space is 1.2-1.7 gigs. But I don't trust them.

I know Windows Xp and bootcamp require 10 gigs, so I'm thinking about doing 15 gigs partitioned for windows. I would do more but again, this is just a laptop and I have very limited space. I only have 30 gigs on my laptop as is, and I need as much space as possible for film and art projects while I'm in college.

Thanks

For me the Firaxis games folder is 3.31gb which includes the BTS expansion. I think saves and some other stuff are stored in a seperate folder so maybe you're right to be cynical - I haven't modded the game at all btw.

Also, the InstallShield installer - will dump all the CAB files into:
Program Files/InstallShield*, so add another 2.5 Gigs to that. (~1CIV, 400Meg Warlords; ~1Gig BTS).

I do believe Windows only needs 3-4Gigs, not including a SwapFile.
My Win2K partition is 3Gigs, with 1-1.5Gigs Free, and WinXP is set for 4Gigs - the swapFile will just be on a different partition.
The only problem is if you don't have another partition to mess with, then you can't Junction off the Users, ProgramFiles, or the Installshield folder within ProgramFiles.

Unless you are installing a huge amount of stuff, or give too much room to the "Documents and Settings" (Users) folders. 15 Gigs should be more than enough to Install & Patch CIV.
I'd just delete the junk that InstallShield keeps around for no good reason.
