Hi!

I have a question about civ1dos. Is it possible to abandon a city which I conquered from an enemy? Sometimes I have to conquer cities from enemies but I don't want to keep those cities and rather like to destroy them. Is something like this possible in civ1?

Thank you :)

Build settlers as fast as you can afford to.
Every settler takes a population point away.
Take people off the high food production squares so the population doesn't grow back.
It's best to home the settlers somewhere else so you don't lose them when the city goes away (or loses the food/shields to sustain them). That's assuming you want to keep them.

Note you can't "disband" a level 1 city with Settler production under Chieftain. It'll just pile on resources until the city grows.

And this only happens on Chieftain level? I thought you can't produce settlers in a city with only 1 population point?

At every level above Chieftan, you can build settlers in a 1-point city. If the food storage box is less than full, the city is replaced by settlers. The home town of the settler unit is the nearest city unless the nearest city happens to belong to a rival civilization. In that case, the settler unit has a home town of NONE and requires no support.
