How to/Can you turn New Random Seed on in a saved game?

I've not played Civ IV in absolutely AGES, and I'd forgotten about the preserve random seed thing. I'm fiddling with a scenario, which I didn't appear to have remembered to turn that off at the start. Now, after a fair bit of searching, I finally found and remembered how to put the Option=GAMEOPTION_NEW_RANDOM_SEED in the world builder save with notepad, but as I vaguley recall (and, as I say, it's been years since I last fiddled with it), turning it on there that doesn't change the option in regular ingame save game, does it?

So, how do you edit the save game to activate it? Can you even do that at all? (I have vague, half-remembered recollections that you couldn't when I last looked, but I could either be wrong or, some might have figured out how to do it.)

I have done my best to google an answer, but come up dry.

Help would be most appreciated!

(I apologise if in my stupidity I've missed a FAQ or something somewhere, and if I have please point me in the right direction!)

Oh, that does work, does it? Righto! I remembered (eventually!) about putting the line in the game option file, but I had a recollection that it hadn't affected the save games. But, as I said, it's been a while. I'll load up my save a bit later and have another go!

Edit: And then I twigged what you were getting at. Well, it did make the seed random again, but it also unflagged some victory conditions I'd already set and achieved. Ho hum. Looks like I'm stuck either starting again or struggling on anyway. Thanks anyhow, it was worth a try!
