How to change your default name? default game settings?

Whenever I start a new game (which is often, I have yet to play through the Middle Ages!) the game always assigns me the name of my computer, which is PADMEWANDESKTOP. How do make that something else?

How do you switch off the intro movies, etc.?

In Civ3, if you play a custom game and then start a new one using the start new game now (I forget the exact words) button, it retains the settings from the last game you played (e.g. raging barbarians, etc,) -- sometimes to amusing effect as when after playing a Conquest I would end up with 5 Elizabeths running around cackling. Anyway, when I quick start a game in Civ4, it seems to start with a vanilla game, e.g. no raging barbs, no aggressive AI, etc.

Anyone else know better than I?

There's a shortcut in the Civ4 directory called _CivIVConfig. There you can change your defaults.

Can you tell it to adopt the leader name for the player name? IE Roosevelt if I play Roosevelt, like the default for III was?

in "Play Now" mode, you can customize your tribe and change your name to whatever you want.

Yet when I did a "Custom Game" either I didnt see the option or you can only change the ini file, because I too was stuck with my default computer name-- PANSYWASTE.

There's a small grey icon next to your default name. Click it, and you can change your name and the name of your civ. I beleive you can also do this with AI civs.
