How to destroy SS?

I am just at the end of Monarch game, Earth map, std. size. I am on the top with result, but I have problem with Koreans. First they have already built UN. Fortunately I have noticed it turn before, so I signed MPP with all civs and started war with Korea. Trick worked, they attacked me the same turn and with the total war the even didn't started the vote.
Now they are building the SS - have already 5 components ready while I have started Apollo. I am not behind in tech - espionage works, but I am not sure if I manage to finish the work before them. I am in Asia, they are in Australia and I have practically no navy - they made me Pearl Harbor before I managed to build some flaks / sams.
So my question is: is it possible to destroy the SS? I know that one way is to capture opponents capital. Any other ways?

No, that's the only way. If you can't capture their capital, you just have to hope you're faster than they are. The AI will not necessarily research straight to the SS component techs, and you can build faster with prebuilds and whatnot.

It will help taking the lead when they start building the remaining parts, but it won't take back what they've got already.

Investigate cities and find which are building the parts. Capture or nuke em, I guess. That'll buy you a little time.

Try denying them the resources to build them.

Most people see SS and they think Schutzstaffel, the Nazi death squads.

I saw SS and thought, really!? they put those in Civ III/Conquests???
