How to get high scores

I apologize if it was already discussed, I could not find it anywhere.
And i apologize if it is a secret that our gurus won't share to anybody else. (It's like that special BBQ sause that chef won't share with nobody.)

So here is the deal. I can finally say i learned how to play civilization.
I feel comfortable on emperor level and i beat AI almost every single time, but I have not figured out how to get high score.
Everytime I win a game and then compare my score with those at "hall of fame" mine usually way behind. :suicide:
What is the trick? the catch??? am i missing something?
how to achieve a high score?
I understand that one way of doing that is when you achieve VERY EARLY victory, but how to do it when you play continents and can't destroy all AIs early enough?
I hope some of the s will share a BIG SECRET with the rest of the crowd.

Just acquire alot of territory and happy citizens...

Also Nuclear Weapons also improve it. I don't like to play for score ussualy (My stratigies are not point directed), sometimes it helps you expand.

Also Conquer. YOu get lots of points for that.

Their really isn't one single sentence or even lots of paragraphs that would descibe how to get points. Although some stragies are point oriented and might help you. SO you should go check out the Stragies section.

There are two main ways to boast your score: finish very early or milk the game out to 2050 AD. For the latter strat grab as much land as you can without triggering domination victory, build up your pop and watch the score climb. I'm sure there's a more detailed article on 'milking' somewhere here.

In the first instance, you should read Maximizing Your Score in Civ 3 by SirPleb. This tutoral is the Milkers Bible.

Then you should practice lots, read the HoF, and if married, get divorced (if you want to challenge the top HoF scores, on any level, you need to put the hours in....200 of 'em)
