Ok, I have a small problem with the map generator. It seems that plains are generated automatically within the city radius of a players starting position.

In the example in the screenshot, I used a random map generator to generate artic conditions, and as one can see, the player is in the middle of a tundra, but the starting position (capital radius), is all plains. This always happens with the map generator.

I would prefer a more natural gameplay, so how would I get players to start in tundra instead of having batches of plains in the middle of the artic?

Some of the real fun of this game lies in challenging or unusual starting positions!

You could make a map yourself and place the starting location in it.

Hmm, maybe you have to change one of the integers in the INI file of Civ 4 to make it not happen...

Try to play the custom map scripts . Near all maps there garanties to start on a good position .

you can try mine . This is a version of the original that prevent this kind of bad starting position : Here

Tcho !
