Okay, what im noticing is that my games are long and dull. As a warmonger the only thing i like to do is fight fight fight :)

First, are you supposed to micromanage your workers for the entire game or do you automate them at some point? Its starting to become a pain in the :spank: to manage each worker making the game unbelievely long!!

Second, How do you automate workers so that they only irrigate and build roads without changing prexisting stuff??

Third, How do you activate a group of fortified units all at once? How do you move a group of units all at once?? Activating each military unit then moving them one by one has become an even bigger pain in the :spank:

Finally, how long does it take you to finish one game?? Generally for me it takes several days playing around an hr each day

1) I micromanage when I build a wonder or when a city doesn't want to grow.
2) I sometimes use CTRL+N to connect cities, but I do not automate to make mines, irrigations, they will be so fool...
3) Right click to city or where they are fortified and "Activate all units".
4) Depends what level you play and how much time you spend to play a game per day.

PS : I do not make paranoid micromanaging every turn in each city ... it would be very boring.

3) addition ... there is a button - move units in stack.

In addition to what Dseert Fox said, Shift-a will automate workers so that they don't change existing improvements. They'll road, irrigate, and mine unimproved squares.

In Conquests, x and j are the stack go-to command, and ctrl-x and ctrl-j will move all units of the same type in the stack.

Sure, start automating them once you feel like doing so won't cost you a win. I still recommend manually control workers near the battler front. You don't want them to be in harms way, and combat engineers can be helpful.

Personally, I use the numpad and shortcut keys to control my worker. It doesn't take much longer than watch them auto-move.

In addition to what nullspace said, in case you're playing vanilla civ3, the hot keys are "j" for stack move all units, and "ctrl-j" for stack move units of the same type. You do need the lastest patch though.

My average games take about 80 hours over a more than a month

Use small or tiny maps. I've just moved up to Monarch after winning regularly on Regent so am no expert, but tried a tiny pangea Warlord game vs random opponants as Iroquois. I went back a step to get over my anti-war paranoia (I'd gained every victory condition other than Millitary ones), and had the game done dusted and conquered in about an hour and a half.

Obviously it was too easy, but did help with the war phobia, and was certainly quick.

If you have Conquests (also PTW I think) you can use Regicide or Elimination game modes, but I don't think you'll find it as much fun--they are primarily intended for multiplayer use but they can make for a short SP game.

The easy answer? Play on smaller maps with less opponents. ;)

To activate a whole stack, right click the tile and look for 'Activate all {#} units'. You can also fortify the whole stack as well. If there is a worker busy on the tile it will ask if you want to interrupt it's orders.

The advanced move options and stack movement options are in PTW as well. The stack move options appear above the unit/tile details box in the bottom right-hand corner.

I play huge maps with max opponents, my games last forever. I am a masochist ;)

One small question:

Is there a way (in Vanilla) to order a stack of units to bombard Square X? The only thing that drives me crazy is having to watch 20 cannons or 20 fighers bombard a darn square.
(I had turned "Animate Battles" off, but often as soon as the bombardment is done the enemy moves and then, during his turn, you cant stop the action to see what happened.)

Whoa...hang on there....so you're telling me I can move all units in a stack while playing Vanillia patched to 1.29f? All I have to do is use the hotkey J? Talk about making life easier!

This kind games go much faster, my Deity games last ~5 hours.
I'd say that this is the best advice.

I don't know if the latest patch for Vanilla uses stack movement, I got the command when I upgraded to PTW.

AFAIK there is no way to order a stack of artillery to bombard a tile. The best you can do is give them the 'Automate Bombard' order, which, although you still have to give the order manually to each unit, will give that unit standing orders to bombard again next turn automatically. No good in a Blitzkrieg. :(

"J" hotkey works in vanilla also, but it has the function of Shift-J/Shift-X in C3C, so it moves only units of the same type.

And there's no auto bombard in vanilla.

Instead of holding shift, turn off the animations.
