First up, Mongolia:
Spoiler :
How to Play as Genghis Khan on the 18 civs map in Civ IV
Introduction:
Hello, I understand that many are of you are aware of the AI Genghis flaws on the world map. In this article I will explain my view on what works when playing him on the 18civs map.
Statistics:
Traits:
Aggressive:
Free Combat 1 promotion for gunpowder and melee units.
Double production speed of barracks and drydocks.
Imperialistic:
100% Great General Emergence.
Double production speed of settler.
Unique Unit:
Keshik: Horse Archer that ignores terrain movement costs.
Unique Building: Ger: Stable that gives even more experience points to cavalry units.
Staring game:
First off, beeline either Animal husbandry or Iron working and rush Qin ASAP. Then, build a city on the pacific coast and repeat the process on Tokugawa. Then, Rex south until your borders control the eastern half of China, Indochina, and the Malay peninsula.
If Asoka or the Barbarians get in your way, attack the cities in the specific area but DO NOT attack any cities outside of Far East Asia until the middle game. In order to pay for your empire beeline Code of Laws, Alphabet, and Currency, then trade for or research the rest of the Pre-Medieval military and infrastructure techs.
Middle Game: First off, Backfill though East Siberia. Then, gather your Armies and trample Asoka, which shouldnt be to hard do to his mostly pacifist ways. Next, go after Cyrus, which will be harder thanks to his military traits and decent troop production and tactics, so bring lots of siege and mounted units. Next up, Build up as many units as you can and attack Cathrine, she is a decent warmonger as well, and will get in your way sooner or later.
Once she is down, however, the rest of Europe will hit the floor almost instantly, so crush them by all means. Take out Arabia, and all thats left in the Old World is Egypt and Mali, and they will probably be killed by Barbarians by the time you get to them.
Late game: If you have gotten this far without a domination victory, then, its time to pay the New World Civs a visit of the not so friendly kind. Huyana Capac and Roosevelt are pushovers so you only have to deal with Montezuma in the long run. Monty has tendency to be technologically backwards, so taking him and the other two out (If he hasnt already killed them.) shouldnt be too hard. Not too hard.
Epilogue: In conclusion, this strategy is not perfect, and you may smack into obstacles, (rather hard in fact, sometimes), but it is generally a good strategy I follow. Will you?
