Chieftain
so i've been lurking plenty and reading... and reading... and reading...(!) all about the (potential) errors and pitfalls in ciV. things like reduced (normal speed) game length, a (slightly) shortened tech tree, lousy (playable on mid-range systems) 3d graphics, and horrible rts elements (new ideas). the list goes on.
anyway, i've been doing lots of thinking, and i figured out a way to make EVERYONE happy!!!
all we have to do is this: each and every hardcore civ fan (obviously including the peeps in this forum) just has to write a check to Firaxis for $5,000 and drop it in the mail. so if we just have 1,000 hardcore civ players who do this, we can raise $5 million american to fund this initiative. the result?? -- that should be just enough money for the development team to include every single nanoscopic feature that we civ addicts demand in a new, custom expansion pack called "Civilization 4: Whiner's Edition".
and get this -- there's more! if you personally double your donation to $10,000, they'll even master a disc JUST FOR YOU that has all the features you want and none of the garbage that you don't! want 1/18th movement railroads, civil wars and other grievous game mechanics in your CiV:WE? with this new plan, you can have it all YOUR way!
seriously though guys, i understand we are all antsy and waiting for the game and have nothing better to do than read and write ridiculous speculation (myself included), but let's all please, please realize that it's monetarily IMPOSSIBLE (forget gameplay logistics) to please all the fans. games these days are made with a lot of hard work and also a lot of money, the latter which happens to come from investors that want a return on their dollar. they either make a civ game that appeals to the most people possible (not just hardcore fans), or they don't make one at all!
what the team DID do, which i whole-heartedly applaud them for, and which demands so much more of our attention (though i know many here appreciate it), is make the Mod tools a huge priority for the game, so that every doggone dick and jane can go and create his OWN version of the game!.. -- and all that at $9,950 off the regular, would-be price tag of $10k a pop.
