How to properly use escape code?

French text has accents that must be escaped. But whenever I use escape code like &#xxx;(xxx is the number), the parser fails to parse the XML.

Looks fine to me. The only thing I can think of offhand, which could be wrong would be the number. You need to use the numbers from codepage 1252. Despite what it says in the comments and on the forum, the encoding isn't the ISO standard, but Microsoft's codepage 1252.

But XML Copy Editor claims that it is encoded in ISO 8859-1.

I know, but Assets\Python\System\encodings\cp1252.pyc claims it's cp1252 and that one is reporting encoding issues, hence it is used. I have spent quite a while on encoding issues and I'm sure it's cp1252.
