How to start a successful forum

How do I start a medium-sized forum. I can get people to visit my site but never post, help!!

Links links links... Anywhere you find a place to link to it do it. Invite internet friends or even real-life friends to give you a hand and register... Errr that pretty much it. But the best way to start a good site is to offer interesting ideas, and other things to keep people.

Now do as I said and give us a link

Thanks, the forums are linked on every page of my sites, not too good at getting others to register and I need people to actually start conversations.

Ah hell, I wanted to make a medium sized community forum, but I guess I'll settle for a profitable site only, thats what I have right now.

You need to offer the viewers content.

More importantly, it has to be about something.

The two reasons most forums fail.

It's also good to have a large viewer base BEFORE you open the forum.
