how to stop teh zulu rush

hey i keep gettin rushed by hte zulus in the very beinning. Typically i lose and get very frustrated. I play as the Japanese and the french. Can someone help me stop the zulu rush!!!

Is this online or single player?

As the French, research masonry as your first tech and you'll definitely get the free wall. That will give you a small boost of confidence in the beginning.

And form armies of archers. A single archer is no archer against an offensive army.

The English are also really good at stopping early rushes; I found that out the hard way.

Probably good civs stopping rush are England, for the loyalty; French, fast access to wall; Greek, Hops defending since the beginning; German, has veteran warriors to fight back.

Aztecs, too. The fact that they heal immediately after fights means one army can take on waves and never be whittled down.
