How to trade with a mate?

I tried my first network game with a mate today. Now we've finally met in the game (we play with 4 AIs) but i'm not able to start an audiance with him.
What shall i do to get this fixed?

Can anybody help me? Would be really cool. And yeah, i know thats a stupid question. It just won't open a diplomacy screen if i rightclick his name

If you left click his name it will send a telephone sound effect to him and i believe a message will also appear on his screen indicating that you want to trade. If he then click on your name it will load the trade screen. You cant force a trade, both players have to accept it before it will appear.

I also want to play with two mates... Does that still make sense? I mean if there are three of us, how many AI should we go up against?
