OK, I admit it (as is obvious) I'm completely ignorant about website building and all this stuff - but I needed to do it. So here's my scenario:

I have built a website with (yes, laugh already) Microsoft Word. It's exactly how I want it - on Word.

Now I have a free hosting account, but I have no idea in hell how to use it, and it doesn't have a noob easy web designer. Just this thing called a File Manager, to upload your files to, appearently, make your website.

Now, I don't know how it works. Can anyone tell me, what do I do yo upload my word website files here so they work on the net like they do in word?

So far, (stop laughing, I know I should've read up on it... but you know, hearing it this way is easier... right?)

anyway, so far, I've uploaded the files, but at the URL, they just appear as links on a blank page. like i uploaded them there, instead of being a website.

I know, it's a lame lame thing, but I'm an idiot stuck, and would appreciate any help...

You need an index.html file, it's the default file that is looked for when you visit a website with specifying a file. If you don't have one, it'll just display the files and folders like a directory list, which I am assuming is what it's doing?

It depends on which preferences your provider use. It can be index.htm or index.html or home.html or default.htm or default.asp............and so on. You have to ask your provider.

Man, am I ignorant....

I finally figured out what you guys told me, and it works, and I thank you, thanks greatly. Appreciate it. :goodjob:
