Having difficulty in winning in this scenario
losing Holstein , Prague and Venice in 1st turns

What a coincidence your wager would have been a "fiver" (which is not a term I've ever heard here in Canada for five-dollar bill, mind). Every post this Ashley's made, other than the one above and a couple others were on the various Civ5 forums, so you're very likely correct.
