How would you design Babylon?

So now we have Babylon, how would you design them for Civilization? Scientific? Defensive? Militarists? Agrarians? What better infrastructure could they have so that we can leave the Ziggurats for Sumer?
I'd like to know your opinion.

I don't think I could design Babylon better than what Port Limes did for Babylon in Civ6: wonders, science, and agriculture. Throw in some administrative and "wondrous capital" bonuses and I think you're set. I might actually sub administrative bonuses for wonder bonuses because I want Assyria to be the culture/builder civ for a change.

What better infrastructure could they have so that we can leave the Ziggurats for Sumeria?
I think the natural UI for Babylon is the Observatory, leaving Ziggurats (Unir) for Sumer. If we had all three, I'd make Sumer a religious/administrative civ with the Unir; Babylon rather like Civ6 Maya with its exceptional capital and science focus, with an Observatory as its unique; and Assyria rather like Civ6 Persia as a civ that can go for conquest or culture, with a Tablet House as its unique.

However, if I had to choose, I don't want to see Sumer back until we can ditch Gilgamesh. Sumer has a wealth of leaders to pick from, from Gudea to Kuĝbau/Kubaba (the only viable woman leader in Ancient Mesopotamia) to Ur-Nammu to Sargon of Akkad. If it's just going to be the Epic of Gilgamesh civ, I'd rather have the Hittites, Urartu, or Elam.

Nothing! Babylon is tired, we want Israel!:crazyeye::D:p:goodjob:

Is this for Civ 6 or future games like Civ 7? :mischief:

Anyways I don't have any specific infrastructure for Babylon but like @Zaarin says an Observatory would do great. I'd also wouldn't mind a Tablet House either. Either way I'd go the scientific route for them with either a unique campus or library replacement.

I really wish Hammurabi started the game with the Code of Laws Civic. If he comes back for future I'd like for him to start the game off with some sort of government/civics.

I'd also like Babylon to be considered the "administrative capital" civ where you want all the wonders and yields to be mainly in the capital.

But without the unique archers.

What does including Israel have to do with Babylon? There's already a thread for Israel. Babylon is the foundation on which all of Western civilization is built; not including Babylon in a game called Civilization is like making a game called Crusades but leaving out the Franks. :crazyeye:

Babylon didn't really preserve magnificent libraries on the scale Assyria did; the Tablet House makes much more sense for them. Babylon's best infrastructure options are the Observatory or the Ziqqurat (if Sumer isn't using it).

I really wish Hammurabi started the game with the Code of Laws Civic.
I want Nebby back. :(

But without the unique archers.
Civ5 thinks otherwise. :mischief:

Overall, it's about how the Civ should be designed in most civ editions. It's hard to tell about Civ7 because we don't know its resources yet. However, some basic game elements are in almost every edition and will probably remain in the future: food, production, gold, science, culture, amenities/happiness and faith.

I know. That was a joke considering I would like to design Babylon differently in Civ 6 too. :)

I just checked the Port Lime's design for Babylon on Steam, this looks pretty good and more fun than the official Babylon. I'll give it a try.

It's really hard to design Babylon because information about Babylon is limited compared to Assyria.

For leaders, I only can think of Hammurabi and Nebuchadnezzar II as leader of Babylon.

I prefer to see Assyria with Sennacherib or Sumer with new leaders like Shulgi, Eannatum or Ur-Nammu first in civ 7. :mischief:

If it were up to me, Assyria would be a base game staple. It's true that information on a lot of the Babylonian kings is hard to come by, but there are other options aside from the two you listed. Nebuchadrezzar I is a possibility; he led a military campaign to Elam, which is quite a distance, to recover the cult statue of Marduk and revived (or possibly started) the Akitu festival. Nabopolassar is also a possibility, but his scorched earth campaign against Assyria doesn't really lend itself to a balanced or representative Babylonian civ.
