Howcome so many people have this problem?

Ive been hearing many complaints (allso from myself ), about people downloading scenarios and then getting the game stuck while trying to play them from "civ content"? The screen goes black while "loading game", but the game never loads. Any ideas what one might do?

i'd post this is the thread of the scenario which is giving you trouble instead of starting a whole new thread.

you see, this forum (new threads that is) is for completed scenarios.

You are right, but it seems every scanario downloaded has the same affect. The game gets stuck during the loading of the scenario.

This is the wrong forum.

I think your problem has something to do with your version of Conquests or something.

I've never had this effect for any scenario I've downloaded.

do you have the scenario files in the correct directory (ie Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios)?

Unfortunately yes. Ive done everything by the book. I even waited 3 hours but the game never loaded. all I saw was a black screen, and the miniscreen writing the number of gold, my nationality, and so forth... "loadign scenario" or such

What is the specs for your pc?

2k GH, 40 Gigabite hard disk, 512k internal memory. Forgot what my video/sound card spesifications are but they arnt bad..

Rocoteh's WW2 Global? if so, i'd try to load one of the save games b/c the regular versions take quite some time to load. it shouldn't be 3 hours+ though.

Your pc is more than enough then so it isn't a hardware problem. May just be what El Justo said. Some scenarios have way too much to start a game with already placed.

WORLD WAR 2 Scenario (worldmap) , if so ?? it sound to me like an reinstall, maybe some bit are gone to nirvana and its time to do that.i reinstalled Civ3 .. i think 3-4 times, and i got similar problems...
Ps: Its not the PTW directory u choose? so u become only wrong *Stapelwerte (nofuxxxx Babelengine knows the english word **$%%$&**)

you computer is too slow. that used to happen to me until i got a faster computer.

I've had this problem too - but only on my really old computer, and only with "huge" scenarios (i.e. most WW2 scenarios!). Since I upgraded, this disappeared; like you, the scenario got stuck on "Configuring Scenario" where I could see the corner box with my nationality etc and nothing else. Once I left the computer on the whole day and it still didn't load! Very frustrating. Your computer maybe has some problems, but it definitely isn't as old as my old one was... maybe it's just a bug with Conquests.

Have you used your disk cleanup or defragmentation programs? In XP, they can sometimes speed up the system if you run these regularly. Your system specs are more than necessary for Conquests. Unless you got too much spyware or adware on your pc. That can do it too.

Man i know the problem of the people is. Its the difference of the language. (i mean from Conquest). Many custom scenarios made on english dont working on other language version. i cant play english custom scenarios
