... here.

Someone said many don't look at the Tech Forum & would not see the post about making music (e.g., MP3s) from your Civ 2 disk, or music from CDs in general. The procedure is specifically written for extracting music on Civ 2 mixed-mode CDs that you own, but which you can't listen to with some (especially older) CD players.

For instance, you can make an MP3, & listen to it when your drive letters conflict with the in-game player. Or No-CD patch. You can play it using WinAmp or whatever. The procedure will work for any CD, and it uses freeware software... plus its pretty easy for a newbie to do, with the screenshots. People who don't have the single greatest computer strategy game of all time, AKA Civ 2, but who use other games & like that music might be helped too.

You certainly can't play MP3's on older CD players either though. So perhaps you should include how to rip those songs and burn them on an audio CD?

And it's not just CD players that cause problems. Sound cards do as well. My integrated sound card can't play multiple different sounds at once (with the exception of CD music). I can't play MP3's while playing Civ2, because Civ2 has "locked" the sound already and uses it for its sound effects. I can start playing MP3's before I launch Civ2, but then I can't hear the sound effects.
