Human Multiplayer: Deforest every tile for a 120 Turn Limit Game?

As mentioned in earlier posts, although Forests give +1 Hammer and +Health benefits, the most annoying thing about forests is that they give a +50% Def boost to your enemies.

And another thing, once the enemy occupies a tile, you will be unable to get commerce, food and production from the tile.

Then why don't you put your own military units in said tile spaces?

Because
1) it's not a choke point!
2) the enemy can bypass 1 forest tile and go to the next or worse go directly to my city!
3) the enemy has 16 Praetorians and 4 Catapults, while I have only 12 Axemen, 4 Longbowmen!
4) it's dumb to divide up my defences!

Then chop them. Why bother asking?

Where are your catapults? Why'd you let Rome get Iron? How did your opponent manage a force worth 800 shields, while yours only cost 620? Did you build Stonehenge or something?

I don't see how chopping down forests is any different in MP or in single-player. Forests have only one purpose in this game: to be chopped. To confuse people they have some small bonus like the +1 prod and health bonuses, but it's obvious that they should be chopped ASAP, regardless of what game you play.

To achieve a consensus across the entire Forum.

Much to my own Folly(for that game), I researched Metal Casting -> Machinery, rather than Mathematics -> Construction

Because
1) It wasn't a 1vs1 game!
2) And I had 3 Human neighbours to deal with!
3) Rome was lucky to have Iron directly below his Capital City and multiple iron spots on an Imbalanced "Balanced" Map!

1) Try expanding your Nation in a hostile territory with 4 Human Neighbours surrounding your borders!

2) Being to pump out 620 Shields worth of defensive troops is already quite an achievement when you're surrounded!

I sometimes wonder why insist on one-sided strategies to make the game more boring than it already is

Dude, if a given tile isn't a choke point then why do you care if your enemy moves his stack into it? Good, let him keep it there. But if it's a spot he wants to hold then YOU should want to hold it, so put a good defensive unit there. If he wants tha tile he'll have to pay for it.

And yeah, you may as well just chop about everything in a multiplayer game. Especially if theres a 120 turn limit.
