Hutama's UA calls for an early city REX to maximise the capitals trade routes.

To take advantage of the +2 trade routes, you want 4 other cities that you can send a trade route to from the capital, and then a fifth with the Autoplant upgrade.

This is the quickest I managed, ignoring Rangi though because that was just a land grab forward push against the AI:

And I still have two strong city locations left to fill to the West and South of Jimboomba by all the Geothermals and the small flood plain river.

The biggest obstacle is the darn aliens, but with level 1 purity escorting colonists is easy, but getting around / past the aliens is still a chore.

Go prosperity if you want to REX. You can plop down as many colonies as you have land for that way. That REX is pretty slow. With prosperity your cities start with 3 population. So get a worker to each colony ASAP and start improving. Then you can build the necessary buildings to keep expanding.

How do you get all the resources icons to show on game screen?

I don't know if there is a hotkey, but if you click the little eye on the minimap it gives you a bunch of options for viewing resources/tile yields/etc.

shift Y for the yields too.

How are you going to get a trade route to Rangi? There is miasma everywhere.

You should really go continental surveyor with this build. Rush ultra fence and your coastal cities will be able to trade with at least 1 other cap immediately (plus trade vessel boost). Eff miasma.

EDIT: Also can trade any two coastals between each other, and again TV boost. But I'm assuming you want the +5 science from TV to other city cap. Seems way better than anything internal.

Is there ever a game scenario that Purity does not benefit from expanding aggressively. Not just REX, but generally. The VC requires a lot of room and Purity comes with a lot of Tile improvements.
