It retains city attack bonus from catapult, lol

Oh my God!!!!

Well I bet that will get added to the patch list.

Oh my god lol!

I completely missed that it was retaining city attack bonuses in the other thread about this, its not meant to have those. I hope they nerf it correctly by removing its potential to gain any city attack bonuses, but leave it as strong as it is for pew pew pewing enemy units that enter your borders.

Actually, I think Atilla the Hun's battering ram is WAY more overpowered, considering how early you can get it. Because it is the replacement for the spearman, you can get it as an upgrade from ancient ruins, and then just take over neighboring city states and civilizations with it. I'm currently playing a game where I just took over 2 neighboring city states within the first 20 turns of the game.

Except for the fact that it's not overpowered and is pretty much hard countered by building an equally large force.

It's pretty overpowered in the early game. If you can get a free upgrade out of a ruins, you can easily knock out another civ before they even have a chance to build anything.

I am right there with you...it's an amazing tool for taking a city...but it's not overpowered because it can only attack cities. If a city has a good defense force or you're attacked as Atilla, they are useless. But a Battering Ram is pretty potent if protected by a couple of Horse Archers.

If used properly, nearly every UU can be pretty devastating. I remember people complaining about the Longbowman as England's UU, but I found it to be a major game-changer.

Attacking Battering Rams with cities + archers will take off more than half its health. You need a large attacking force to take cities with rams, but once you have one, they make it a certainty.

Unfortunately, Attila has no way to counter horsemen, since his UU replaces the Spearman, so if he doesn't have iron, he has to use warriors until Civil Service. Bleh.

Hwach'as retaining their city attack bonus, on the other hand, is a whole different level. Rams are completely useless at anything but attacking cities, but Hwach'as can attack anything, and Hwach'as keeping their catapult bonuses will be almost twice as powerful vs. cities as a battering ram, and will have the capability to attack units as well.
