I am on Emperor and i am stuck. Plz Help.

Here the situation. After having played a price game with conquest option, i got bored by the simplicy and decided to jump on Emperor. After several douzains of new games i finally got the map i want (On emperor you never get a perfect situation, you can get lots of ressources, but surrounded by jungle or desert. Or you can get a good forest but without a single good food units ). I have taken one with lots of forest and food ressources plus some space to expansion.

Here the details:
0) Custom Game. Standart Map.
1) Emperor difficulty.
2) Terra Map.
3) Conquest, Domination, Diplomati and Cultural victories
4) Raging Barbarians, Agressive AI and Permanent Alliances.(Did i said i love carnage )

Here what my city currently likes:

I play as Qui. Being Financial helped pretty much with initial research and Chop Chop Chop boosted my cities ). Napoleon, Ghengis and Peter are on my left. Tokugava on right and Huayna and Ghandi on top of Tokugava.). From religious point of view it is perfect. 4 religion founders. This is a paradise. Ghandi would soon be razed to the ground. Peter would be doomed when he would choose a religion. I have Horses and iron, thus giving me a defenitive advantage for the future.


Even throught i am currently the most powerful civ, i have ceveral problems. If i dont solve them quickly i would be completly overrun in around 100 turns.
1)
No Happiness bonuces !!!!. I only have gold, thus limiting my cities to a max 5 pop. (which is death). I can trade them with nobody since even my closest friends are cautious to me (Which is Ghandi and Huayna).

2) ennemies good relationship. Ghenghis,Peter and Huayan are pretty dangerous.

3) No religion. This is a prob since religion brings hapiness, culture and better productivity. Hovewer, which on should i choose. I could currently choose Confusionism, which would consolidate my position with napoleon and secure me from the west .I could use Napoleon as a shield against peter and Ghenghis), but this whould almost surely bring a war with at least one nation. Taking buddism would secure me from the east, but i hate Toku for building the Pyramids. Taking Judaism would be nice, but i dont think i would get it before 20-30 turns.

4) War. I am big and i Have technological advantage. I could get horses in around 20 turns. Should i attack Toku or Ghengis. Even though attacking napoleon would be the easiest, it is not advisable since he probably has closed borders with the Ghengis, thus protecting me from him. Attacking ghenghis is not smart too. Hes is big, but dumb. he has all the tundra with luxuries int it, but it would cost him huges amounts of money to maintain all these cities. Thus like in other games Ghenghis would be technologically backward and whould not be a threat. Killing Toku would be perfect, but the bas***d have at least 3 archers on hill cities. Taking them out would be a pain in the a$$. If i could get Huayna in war with Toku, my chances are good, but sadly i dont have judaism .

I just finished a bunch of games on monarch (pangea), and in my opinion there are only a limited number of leaders that can really keep you alive at the higher difficulties. But mostly b/c of the UUs not due to the leader. On monarch I have beaten it with financial leaders ($$$), and with my personal favorite, Mongols. If the mongolian UU comes out, you are gonna have a pain on you. The no terrain restriction is what I miss when I play any other civ. So I suggest you take him out, or raid his horse production. All he needs to bring his UU is horses/archery/horse riding. And their pretty cheap build time wise.

But honestly I don't know how to beat the higher difficulties without plain out war off the bat. I just started emperor difficulty, and I'm trying to adjust to it myself.

Control unhappiness using military units (requires monarchy and the hereditary rule civic) or a small move in the culture slider (requires drama and theaters built).

You mention no religion, but ask which to choose. So does this mean you have religions in some of your cities, but simply haven't adopted a state religion? If so, you don't have to adopt a state religion to get some of the happiness benefits. Simply build temples (and spread the religions to your least happy cities if you have to yourself). Temples add +1 happiness whether it's the state religion or not and they are cumulatve.

Even though unhappiness has a bigger impact than unhealthness, I fnd it much easier to control.

If you have Iron, archers on hill cities die like flies. Just pump out those Swordsmen and go for Tokugawa. Or go for Napoleon, I've noticed he has a habit of stabbing you in the back. You're better off bordering Genghis, atleast he hits you in the face.

got go for the resources, without it you will never grow. open up your border to as many civ as you can in the hope that religions will spread to your towns, choose state religion or not depends on your diplo situation, but you got build monasteries and spread all religion to all your cities for the happy boost. But temples are just a temporary fix, you got go all out for resources, without it you are doomed.

I cannot open up my borders. The %$?/& civilizations are all annoyed towards me (for no reason, even throurg they are happy with each other, even when they have different religion and friction due to their borders.) Napoleon loves Ghenghis Khan for no reasons.

I adopted the religion of Napoleon. Builded several wonders ( Did i say i got stone). The wondeers: Hanging Gardes, Great Lighthouse.

Also i took down Tokugava (Read Killed his toops and Grabbed 2 of his cities, one being Kyoto with Pyramids and Academy and Buddism as Founded religion . Muhahahahha). But now Napoleon the Backstabbing son of a b*****, attacked me. Why da hell he attacked me ??? He has almost full borders with Ghenghis Khan, and both of them had different religion. Why did he attack me and Ghenghis. This is a piss off. Tried to pick his cities, but they are way too defended ( Several Longbowmen + catapults + something else + 60% city defence.) I have no cataputls myself.

But wait if you rhing this is bad. Ghenghis Can jointed Napoleon in a war against me. Now i dont understand why. But i am really pissed. I mean i was heading to an easy vctory and they all go against me. Agressive Ai should mean they go in war more often, not the fact that they all love each other and hate me to death !!!!!

I think i will take my chinese UU, post them all on their ressources, burn their willages. Also i have seen Ghenghis alway attacking with Keshnick(their mounted useless unit). I assume he has no iron, so i will burn his cities to HELL. But i wait the day to BURN Napoleon to the ground.

lol. I have concluded peace with Napoleon and now fightign Ghenghis Khan. Napoleon is nice to me no and say all kind of stuff like Great leader and bla bla bla, but i think the bacstabber would attack me on the first occasion. Do you think i should bury him.

Also i have the occasio to bring Mongol Capital to the ground, but it would cost me 2/3 of my military. Or should i conclude peace with Ghenghis and waste the french ??? Because Ghenghis is really ********. He Had builded up god knows how many expensive UU, but they all got wasted on my cheap spearmens .
