The specs are as follows;
2.66 celeron d
512 meg cosair
SAPHIRE|radeon 9550 256M

I was just going to try and upgrade my p3 800 but i figured it to be cheaper in the long run just to purchase a new system.

BTW newegg.com kicks some serious barbarians, so if your looking to get upgrades go here, a system with less power would have cost almost 25 percent more through a local retailer.

So tell me what to expect PLEASE!

That looks like a decent deal - I assume you paid less than $1k.

I personally would choose a slower P4 over a celeron, but it should run fine.

Go ahead and check all your drivers and DirectX then use some sort of 3d game to test it out.

i actually spent under 250....granted i have a harddrive and case already, i do need a powersupply which is gonna cost around 50 oh yeah you live in san antonio alamo? ready to see them spurs beat up the league this year?

Don't expect anything too great, to be honest.

Civ 4 has serious issues right now and far better systems than your new one are struggling to run the game. That being said, you might get lucky. There is an element of (apparent) randomness to what systems are running the game well.

That upgrade will be just fine for most games and was a good choice for a smallish budget. I assume you kept your old mobo? Also, make sure your old HD has fairly good access times--a slow drive will kill a game like Civ 4 that swaps memory a lot.

And I agree, newegg rocks. I use them for just about everything from new builds to upgrades to flash memory.

Celeron is crap. Plain and simple. If you want to do more than email and surf, celeron is a seriously bad choice. If you EVER wondered why celeron is so much cheaper than it's non-celeron equivalent, just remember, you get what you pay for. They are cheap for a reason.

Gaming machines are newer build with a celeron processor but with a good gfx card your safe to enjoy the game ;)

Hey! If you are on a low budget, its not a bad machine. Sure, Celeron processors are crappy, and I would have personally selected a pentium 4 instead, but again.... if you need to do the whole upgrade for just a few hundred buck he did just fine.

No, for that kind of money it's not bad ... but for a teenie-bit more (~$50) you can have a "real" processor which scores much higher on price/performance. I'd just say avoid celeron in the future if you can spare the extra 50 bucks :P
