I can't get defence to work!

I think I'm being really stupid but I just can't get this mod to work .

I load it fine but I can't see how to buy units or cities or anything.

I can click on the tech and it gives me the cost but no buy it now button and in the unit tab there are no units there.

Any advice?

I also had the observation 2 times, that the buy tech button was missing, but the units were always there.

When the buy tech button was missing, I just reloaded. The button should be bottom left of the tech screen.
