I've just installed the game, but I'm having obe major problem that is preventing me from playing it. I cant see any terrain. I can only see it when I zoom right out, or see the whole map using the world builder. I've tried changing the graphic details level put this has done nothing. Can anyone help?

DING DING DING!

You are the 7,986,453rd person to post that you are experiencing this bug.

There is a forum called tech support- check there to answer your question.

efexeye, your not a moderator so you should mind your own. If you can't help this guy then dont post!

Anyways what you need to do to fix this involves your video card. You can try to install the omega driver from www.omegadrivers.net, find you brand and the proper one for your operating system and install it. I did this and it worked like a charm.

Oh, I'm sorry- I didn't realize you WERE a moderator! Thanks for the help!

He could have read a little before he came here and blindly posted IN THE WRONG FORUM. You are encouraging his misuse of the forums.

Nice work!

Bongo-Bongo... welcome to the forums!

[party] :band:  [party]

Hope you get your issue worked out. Don't let the grumpy trolls get ya down - there are actually lots of friendly folks here. I would consider lambasting a 'Posts: 1' member an improper use of the forums as well so perhaps we can be a bit more mature.

There is a tech support section which has more details on the video card issues. Definitely check there if the above posted fix doesn't work for you.

Wow, thanks for all your great suggestions, unofficial mods! You guys are doing a great job policing things! As for the suggestions to mind your own business, maybe you guys should take your own advice!

I wasn't mean, I simply told the dude he was in the wrong forum, and where to find an answer to his question. You guys are the ones looking for fights to pick.

Not a mod, just a member of the community wanting everyone to have a good time playing the game. Cheers all!

If we were mods we would just slam him with a bunch of warnings and move the thread to some desolate forum. We gave him responces to his questions, a dead give away we are not mods.

We are just tryin to help the guy. Let the mods worry about enforcing rules, homey.

Couldn't agree more. The original poster would have got his bum kicked on most forums for failing to check the existing threads before posting. Your original post was quite appropriate. It's lifeaquatic who deserves a kick in the bum for gratuitous rudeness.

Uhhhh, I did the same thing, and you guys are right and I'm wrong WHY? Because your 300 posts are more than my 100 something?

I was trying to help too. Again, speaking to your suggestion about mods enforcing the forum rules- I suggest you do the same.

Sorry if I don't want to slam people for asking for help. Sorry for sticking up for someone that needs help. Come over here and try and kick me in the "bum". See what happens.

Well, maybe not a kick in the bum, but at the least maybe we SHOULDN'T encourage posting in the wrong forum by posting answers to technical questions in the same, WRONG forum?

Hey, I'm not looking for a fight. These two carebears appear to be.

Moderator Action: Alright - That's enough (both of you for dragging it on off-topic). He is new. You cannot expect him to go to the correct place the very first time. You could have been more polite in making new members welcome.

Anyways this thread is going off topic...

What system do you have man

(if you guys want to argue more start a new thread, lets leave this one for the topic of the black terrain issue)

If you had a brain, you would have realized that efexeye DID give the original poster some help, by pointing him to the appropriate forum. But no, you had to elbow your way in with your arrogant assumption that only YOU can help the poster.

I see, first you lecture efexeye for breaking forum etiquette, and now you start threatening other posters with violence. Do you know the meaning of the word "hypocrite"?

Moderator Action: This is quite enough. If this is going off topic and you wanted to correct that you shouldn't post more off-topic stuff. Warned for trolling and leading this thread more in the OT direction.
I don't want to see any more such posts beyond this point.

I'm sorry if I was rude. Just trying to help (with a skosh of sarcasm added for personal style considerations).

When is the search feature coming back? Maybe that would ameliorate people posting in the wrong forums?

Sorry to keep going OT, but this thread went where it went. I am very irritated by the multiple threads in "general discussions" about technical problems. People coming here to decide if they should buy the game probably go to this forum first, and seeing a bunch of posts that the game doesn't work is not helping the game or the community.

So, that's my thought process. I'm not here to cause trouble, I think the actual mods do a great job!

EDIT: Now this is pure smartass, but this comes from the FAQ:

"Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts."

.......

OFF TOPIC WRONG FORUM

This is tech support forum efexbutt, I mean eye, sorry typo, this keyboard is acting up, anyone here in TECH SUPPORT NOT GEN DISC no how to fix a keyboard that types techbutt over techbutt and over techbutt again? Techbutt

Moderator Action: Do not ignore my warnings above. Anyone doing so after this point will get a short ban. This really is enough.
Warned for trolling.

Seriously, is there a step by step solution to this problem. I don't have all night to read threads that are 60 posts long. I am just trying to get this work. I can see everything but the terrain. The game runs great except for the black terrain. I went to the omega site, but am not sure what to download.

I have the same problem. I have an Intel Card but can't see the terrain. It doesn't seem like Omega makes anything that will help in my situation. Does anyone have a suggestion?

This is what I wrote to another threat,so maybe you will find it usefull.

Ok,I had(maybe still have it but I must test it) the problem of black terrain.I put several omega drivers (geforce 4 MX440) but they worked for like 20 turns and the problem again was the black terrain. After that I read some were that I should put the latest driver for my motherboard (Via 694+ Pro) and install NVIDIA driver 66.93 (you can find it in their arhive of drivers) and I did that...can you belive it...it worked...once the black terrain showed and I restarted the game and it was ok.
So maybe it was from the drivers but if you play the game save your game every 3-5 turns(just in case) and on every start of the game delete the cashe of the game (Start/My Computer/Local drive c:/ /Documents and Settings/"USERNAME"/Application Data/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/cache ) it should be 18 files delete them all and then start the game.

I will test the game and if I find out anything new I will reply to this thread.

(Now i'm trying 71.89 drivers because those are the drivers Fraxis tested their game)

Best games everybody

P.S. Does any1 have spare 256 MB SDRAM 133MHz from and old computer or broken computer,I would be gratefull (I can't find this tipe of ram anywere).
