yes, i have read 1984. orwell was a socialist, which is big government. i, personally, think existensialism(however you spell it..)is stupid. i think i would like to believe it, but i also believe in a supreme being. do you?

You're right, existentialism is stupid.

Don't get involved in existentialism if you can help it. Existentialists are drawn to it against their will, believe me. Worrying about reality is never a good way of having a happy life!

Socialism sucks. I've been on demonstrations with socialists. Some are OK, but a lot of them stand around talking about 'fighting back' and putting the 'class enemy' in concentration camps (!). When the real fighting starts, they would rather run a hundred miles than put their own lives on the line.

Socialism is not democracy.

A supreme being is a nice idea. I certainly hope there is one, because I'll have something to say to him about this World. I don't think there is though, most of our problems can be associated to governments and rich people, rather than cosmic forces.

Philosophy and politics have important places in the World, but theology is just mind control by other means.

Without socialism I prolly would have died from working in a coal mine/factory in dangerous conditions at the age of 12 or something

and if I didn't die I'd earn just enough money to buy 1 bread (from my employer's shop) every week...

Mordred is right to some extent, from a historical perspective. Unfortunately I talk from experience of seeing socialists 'in action' on anti-capitalist demos, when they come and lecture us anarchists on the value of central control and 'fighting back' then run away and criticise us for being provocative when we defend ourselves against the police.

Communists are just socialists with the courage of their convictions.

Although some progress has been made by socialists, on every case where the workers have gained control, the socialists have either sold them out or messed things up by installing a 'proletarian dictatorship.'

From an anarchist point of view, I have to agree with you that socialism sucks

But in most of Western Europe, socialists have been in most governments since WW1-WW2, and they've fought for the rights of the common man/woman and won, saying that they sold out the workers is rather harsh, they have just become a "traditional" party because they have achieved their goals, which is why I find them quite useless today because the remaining issues (immigration/racism/environment) are better handled by green parties. (if you're left)

And to the criticisms of socialism/communism by young Blitz, well, we'll just see who wins, won't we. The anarchists haven't won anything yet, and their nature (disorganized) means they never will.
But Homage to Catalonia is a good book, and 1984 is an excellent vision of the ideal future.

i dont thnk what xeven posted was bad, the mods just like to pick on him. corn has a little vendetta(i learned that word from playing civ!) going with him. xeven sent corn an 'insulting' email, and all the mods think xeven should be banned indefinently. hes not coming back, anyway. probably just long enough to read what weve said about him, and post more 'insulting' things. i think xeven shoud be able to say to corn whatever he wants to outside of the forums. some one posted (in a different thread...

)that letting xeven get away with this was allowing the undermining of authority etcetcetc(more bull crap followed). what do you think about xeven, lefty?

Stellar the moderators are the custodians of the forum. Like building custodians their job is to keep all the trash swept up so the place will be a nice place to hang out. Sometimes, Thunderfall has to get rid of a litterbug or two to make the custodians job easier.

Personally, I aplaud them for doing a great job.

frankly guys, i dont need a lecture about what the moderators do. i can assure you, border, i know more about the mods here and their privileges than you do. they try to do a good job, but often come up short because they are too ready to please thunder. "oh, thats heresy! xeven! you must die!!!"

they close far too many topics, and they do not close the topics of people they know and like. for one thing, that aybabtu crap. if it belongs anywhere, it belongs in the humour forum, not several times in the off topic. the guideline is very specific about dupes... there are other problems, but i do not keep a log of them, so i will not comment about them. maybe ill starta thread in the other games forum, and well have a game of all the moderator screw ups. that would be a fun game. and i can assure you, it would be under the guidelines.
