I have installed the latest XP and ATI (X850) drivers...and tried installing CIV 4 twice, both failed.

Cyclic redundancy test failure on an mp3 file "Mozarteandante".

How does a company sell such buggy software???? Been through problems on previous software....cheeesh...

Thanks for help

Have tried replacing it with one of your own mp3s? Maybe that will help...:hmm:

EDIT: Nevermind, I see now that it's about INSTALLING not RUNNING the game....

Finally found a few posts on crc....back to the store I go to replace the disks.

Got to mention that the copy protection is fierce on DVD-version at least. I couldn't get my drive even to run the disk before I updated the firmware. The first time I had to do that.

All games have at least a small amount of people that the game doesn't work for, happened to me with CoD2, I know it's annoying, but it's standard, Firaxis isn't a horrible game publisher. I can completely sympathize (sp?) with you though, I've had a huge ammount of games that didn't work.

That aside, you can try reinstalling installshield,
Go to C:/program files/common files/
Rename the installshield folder to installshieldold

This will make the install disc think it needs to reinstall installshield, it might work for ya...
