I'd post it in the questions-not-worth-their-own questions thread but I might get infracted. This can be moved on a mods discretion as long as I dont get an infraction.

An article I have says something along the line of "Petty's AOR songs as opposed to other artists' MOR songs," my memory is a little vague right now. It was an article from either 1980 or 1981.

Problem is I cant find the definition of AOR or MOR. What do they mean?

I think AOR might be Album or Adult Oriented Rock. I don't know about MOR.

Album oriented rock makes sense, because Petty's brand of music has been described as "album rock." Not sure about adult (for some reason that makes me think X-rated songs)
