I'm just wondering if anyone else tends to carry one game into the next one.

I do this quite often but I just played a game where the Chinese were not. nice. people!

I finished that game and started the next and lo and behold there they were again. I just can't help but hold the sins of the last generation against this one.

I fully admit that I am not a nice person for doing this... so bite me

The first time I ever played on a Large map (as the Vanilla Russians, at Monarch), I had the Aztecs at the far south end of my Continent. I'd done for the English (to the north), and was just starting on the Japs (to the south) when Monty's troops came roaring up and killed them — and then me. Cossacks (+Infs+Arty) vs. Tanks (how the hell did he get Tanks already?!?) is no fun.

So now, whoever I'm playing, if I find Monty on my Continent, he becomes my first target (by proxy, if I can't reach him myself). And I'm not ashamed of that.

I fully agree with you here.

My copy seems to have a bug where I allow 4-5 AI civs to be randomly selected, and the Inca and the Maya are ALWAYS included. So, yes, I punish them every game for past sins. I have got to the point where I will specify all the tribes so I know those pink-wearing devils will not be present. It ruins a little of the surprise, since I know who will be out there; just not *where*.

Check to make sure that "culturally linked start " is not ticked before you play again. that is the bug that always gives you the Inca.

Thanks, I will check that. In addition, I've found that the *order* of the AI tribes matters. If I put one of the tribes I've selected as the last one on the list, with other boxes "Random" in the middle, I don't get the Inca. Well, it worked the first time I tried it, so that's not a very big sample size. Is the bug linked to map size? I have also stepped up a level in map size.

it is only part of the Culturally linked box .

Turn off 'culturally linked' and you will get more random opponents.
