I love my Civ V maps... Can I keep them?

As the title says... one of the best things about Civ V for modders and mapmakers was being able to port the maps over from Civ IV. I love the map I use in my scenario (in the sig) and want to keep it and create a Civ VI scenario with the same map.

What are the chances?

I think high... hex-based to hex-based has to be simpler than from square tiles to hex.

I also hope the new Worldbuilder provides for scalability. I think the district system needs more room for a good city spread. Civ 5 Worldbuilder, you could rescale maps easily... here's hoping for more of the same.

It should be easier to port than Civ4 -> Civ5 since both Civ5 and Civ6 have hexes. However, there are some new terrain features like cliffs, many different resources and a lot of rebalancing. Porting maps 1 to 1 will not work well.

Resources, Cities, Civs, City States, Improvements and Natural Wonders won't be portable

I think Cliffs are any tile with Hills on them so that should be relatively easy to port if that is indeed the rule, but who knows.

Other than that, the terrain set is pretty much the same, so, liek stealth_nsk, said, should be fairly easy to port.

Without knowing the new map file format, it's going to be hard to guess.

Could be anywhere from, you might as well start over, to Firaxis having build a converter.

That said the bigger maps is going to be the main problem, to convert something like a huge earth map, your going to have to start over, as I just don't see how to automatically make it 20-30% bigger.

Civ 5 worldbuilder scaled up pretty well without too much distortion at 10% larger. If they use the same algorithm, I will be happy. I expect I would have to do quite a bit of polishing in any case to perfect the maps... connect up orphaned rivers, regularize coastlines, add in new and changed terrains, etc. Had to do that going from square tiled Civ 4 to Civ 5 and it wasn't too bad.
