I am sorely disappointed with Civ 5:(
I loved civ2.42 and civ 4 BTS.
I am looking for another good game with good repeatibility and random starts.
Any suggestions??

I've had a lot of fun playing Civ III lately, even after playing IV and V. I do hate the corruption and city-flipping on III Vanilla though.

Galactic Civilizations II is great, but can be tough to learn at first. If you don't get frustrated... and if you give it a few days to really understand it, it is very, very fun. In my case, I recently started playing it after buying it (+ DA/ToA expacs) a couple years ago, so it's like a brand new game to me.

I've heard a lot of good things about Europe Universalis 3, though I haven't played it. Worth a look just based on the word of mouth I've seen about it though.

Medieval II: Total War (with Stainless Steel Mod) is still one of my favorite games ever, and you can probably find it fairly cheap somewhere.

I still play Master of Orion: 2 as well, even though it's old. Just stay away from MOO3, it was terrible, and destroyed the franchise to boot.

And of course, there is Civ 4 still. You can also find it pretty cheap as well.

Moderator Action: Not a Civ V topic so moved to All Other Games.

This is an excellent choice. There's also the Third Age: Total War mod, which is set in Middle Earth during the War of the Ring. One of the best mods I've ever played.

civ 1. all the way.

By the way, Dwarf Fortress is free.

Pick any paradox game. No random starts, but a tremendous amount of replayability.

There is actually a random start mod for HoI3. It's pretty fun ;)

But yes, I second the recommendation for Paradox developed stuff (as opposed to just them publishing - some of the latter is good, some bad). EU3 is probably the best place to start, but they're all good.
