I need help editing CivIII

Ok, first sorry if this has already been asked or if the answer is plain stupid, but when I make a mod, when I try to start a game it:

a)won't do anything when I click New Game or Quick Game
-or-
b)i'll get an error saying "Invalid scenario version. Version 3.00 is no longer compatible"

Anyone know what's wrong?

You have the incorrect version of the 1.17f patch, the correct editor is to download somewhere on this site.

What do you mean by "the incorrect version of the 1.17f patch"? And for the editor, do you mean the hacked version?

Go into your editor, and check the version number. Choose help tab, then About Civ3 Edit. The version should be 1.15 with Bic version 2.10. The original 1.17f patch had the wrong editor when they put it out.
