I Need Help Killin Spyware

Hey OTF,

I am new here but not new to off topic forums and I was wondering if anyone here knew of some good FREE spyware killing deveices. I need stuff that does more than just scan for spyware because my comp is getting owned.

Well, have you looked for spybot or adaware on google ?

you need ad-aware (lavasoftusa.com) to clean up your system, then try the x-terminator spyware blocker from stompsoft.com - you can get the trial that blocks.

If you're infested bad then it may take several iterations to get clean. If things are stuck in memory then you'll have to boot in safe mode, or rip it out of your registry yourself.

Do NOT just install any POS that claims to be a good adware fixer. There are way too many scam artist out there with bogus or downright dangerous products.

yes but all I find is a Free Scan, not a free system that kills the stuff.

See my sig for ad-aware SE, it removes spyware. Spywareblaster also found in my sig prevents spyware from installing in the first place.

Yeah, ignore the free scans.

Get this first:

Yes I do play Civ, its a great game.

For some reason my download isn't starting... Maybe "they" aren't going to let me do it.

Home adress Changed
Cookies Defualts Changed
Overall Slowness
Popups
Couldn't send email because the popup would fill the place where I would type text (this one pisses me off the most!).

IE is a very insecure browser, it has active X, which allows spyware to be downloaded with out your permission. A browser switch would eliminated most spyware from the internet. Firefox is an alternative browser that doesn't have active X, so its quite secure when compared to IE. Firefox can even import your bookmarks and settings from IE, plus Firefox has a built in popup blocker and killer features like tabbed browsing.

What the heck... Download.com isn't working!!!??

EDIT: All downloads NOT CONNECTED with anti-spyware stuff work... programs that are anti spyware related refuse to start downloading.

EDIT2: I would have never thought these programs would have stopped me from downloading programs to delete them... It looks like I will have to go out to best buy and buy a program and install it with my internet off.

That is an online scanner, it scans very accuratly and although it does not remove spyware it gives you the location of spyware files on your hard drive and in your registry. From there you could manually delete any spyware that you find.

if all else fails, use the windows installatin disc. Yes, it will be painful, but sometimes very neccesary.

I started to go through my files manually... I got some of the nasty hijacking and trojans but just now I can get to pestscan anymore... and I think the spyware is trying to fight back. This is a battle I am commited to winning even though it is taking hours.

EDIT: My friends, the battle has been won! I manually deleted the nasty stuff that wouldn't let me download Spybot S&D. After that I downloaded the program in it mopped up the rest. Thanks for all the help.
