I need help!

I know this is pathetic but i can never get past changing my government to monarchy without going into extreme debt.
I have never been able to stop it. How can i stop it?

Build a road in all your controlled tiles to produce 1 extra gold for your people to work on.

Build some tax cllectors.

Try to get some GPT from other civs.

If all else fails, lower science or happiness.

It's hard to say. Could be lack of roads, lack of certain improvements, too few cities, lots of other things. If you post a save game (instructions in the FAQ thread at the top of this page), someone will be able to help you out much better.

(Best would be save game from right about when you just made the transition or are just about to.)

Once you go into Anarchy, you can't get out of it until you're asked which government you need. While in anarchy, your country will not produce any additional gold, your research is automatically stopped, so only thing i see is that you ow lots of money to other civs through buying technologies or luxuries. then you have a huge problem.
Just make sure you do not ow any civ any money, and try to make other civs pay you money, this could be an option
