I really want to control the number of civs in every game

Is there anyway that the game can be updated so that we can control the number of civs we get to play against.

It gets tiring having to play against 5 or 6 civs in every single game. I would like to play against just 1 or 2 or 3 - or even NO other civs - sometimes.

This option was available in Civ 5 and i loved that option. I really want it back please. Thank you.

Yeah i really feel this, in civ V and VI I mostly played with around 18 ai civs in each game on a large map.

OK I did some digging around and finally found the Civs option. but I did not write down how I got there and now I cant remember.

I Did manage to play 52 Turns of a game with just me and one other player, plus those villages (What used to be called Barbarians).

THat was so much better. But it does seem that I cannot go to just one player and I cannot turn off the "barbarians"

Can anyone give me the path to get back to that Civ options. Please?

I think it started off at Menu, Additional content and possibly Mods - but I cannot seem to find anything after that.

You can do it on the Advanced Options button when you are setting up a new game. This is on the screen where you select the game settings (Difficulty, map size, game speed).

When you click advanced options there will be 2 tabs on top, Game Settings and Player Settings, you can change the number of civs in the Player Settings tab.

As an update I have managed to get to the Exploration age with 2 civs, and as long as neither of them are expansionist or militaristic, this is OK,. But those Barbarians are ruining the game for me.

There are far too many hostile villages and when they all attack me, I dont survive very well at all. I really want to be able to turn OFF those Independent villages.
