I seem to be having a problem here

Hi,

the mod works fine for me until I actually click "Start game", at which point it crashes. Here's what I've done:

DLed the Mod, unzipped it in Docs, copied the files and put the "Warhammer" map in Mods in Beyond The Sword.

DLed the patch, unzipped it in Docs, copied the files and overwrote them in the "Warhammer" map.

As I said, everything seems to work until I click "Start game". I can choose race, etc. I'm using Vista. I did not unzip the files directly into the "Mods" map because I couldn't, which I guess has to do with the fact that I can't remove the protection on the Civ4 files.

Help to get this game working would be greatly appreciated! :)

Oh, and I did the Python thing, too.

That's where I've put them, together with all the other mods (Road to War, etc). The "Warhammer" folder is there.

I've tried both "Play now", the scenario with Nippon/Cathay, a DLed Warhammer map and Continents.

Just in case this helps (yeah, it's in Norwegian, so I'll translate it if you need), this is the details from the crash report:

more or less directly translated, so there's bound to be some misunderstandings on my part. Maybe this helps.

By the way, other mods and such work perfectly.

5. Vista users have reported crashes if they have UAC (User Account Control) enabled.

do you have UAC enabled? This mod runs on FFH codebase so same might apply here.

to be sure the install path is correct: Can you look in the civpedia from the mainmenu? Do you have all pink buttons there or does it show normal? - lot of "replaceme" buttons:mischief:.

After you enabled logging in the civini can you post the logs after you received the crash?(maybe redo this first before start up - sometimes the games resets the ini)
You should be able to find the logs in my files/my games/beyond the sword/logs or whatever similar there is in vista.

The "nippon/cathay" scenario isn't playable.

The UAC was on, but the game still crashed after I turned it off (yes, and after I rebooted).

Here's the log I found on the BTS/logs folder:
[39595.565] ERR: InitWinApp() failed, exiting
[39595.565] ERR: CIV Init FAILED, exiting

The buttons in the Civipedia work. I got the images.

I replaced the DLL.

I tried turning off the firewall (for a second there I thought "gee, you are an idiot", but it turned out I wasn't after all).

So yeah...what the hell did I do wrong?

There should be more files. It seems eventlogging isn't enabled. Or this entire thing works differently in vista(I don't have vista so I really can't compare).
I'm most interested in the xml log as that should tell at what point exactly the game is going to crash.

Also how's the pedia?

The pedia shows a number of various Warhammer related skills, such as "Lore of Fire" and "Flight" (which lets you build a Gyrocopter). They all have symbols, several custom made. I'll Screen Pic it if you want.

From the civilization.ini:

"; Disable caching of xml and file system (may slow initialization)
DisableCaching = 0"

You want me to turn on this? Or do I enable the xml logging somewhere else?

I found an xml log, in Doc/My Games/Beyond The Sword/Logs:

[756.667] Loading XML file xml\GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml
[756.729] Load XML file xml\GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml SUCCEEDED
[756.729] SetGlobalClassInfo (Civ4PlayerOptionInfos/PlayerOptionInfos/PlayerOptionInfo)

[756.745] Load XML file xml\GameInfo/CIV4GraphicOptionInfos.xml SUCCEEDED
[756.745] SetGlobalClassInfo (Civ4GraphicOptionInfos/GraphicOptionInfos/GraphicOptionInfo)

Though that one seems all right to me...

And another init log, from

Heh. I had the same experience when some guys tried to help me with Dark Omen...

I'll try redownloading it.

I found the problem: for some reason I didn't have 3.13 (althoug it told me I had the latest version), and DLing and installing the patch fixed the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.
