Well, OK. I have to admit I been trying some pretty wild stuff to sort of figure out how the AI reacts to things.

Like last game, I bribed about 5 civs to go to war with other various civs, then declared war on all 7 of the other civs  (after a few turns, they all made peace and ganged up on me).

Another game, I took my warrior that you get at 4000 BC and attacked my neighbors, won 2, lost the 3rd one. Oh well :crazyeye:

And, my first few games were kind of a learning process - like I play a game, read 10 pages of the manual, say "OH DUH", and go play another one. In one game that I actually got pretty far in, I must have wasted about 10x Great Works before I finally figured the best uses for them.

Ah well, all fun.. but now it is time to get down to mass producing War Elephants and get down to some serious playing for the weekend....

I've been getting just mercilessly beaten on Noble difficulty. Any time someone declares war on me, they usually attack any town with 3 times the units I have stationed at it or more. It's quite wild how quick the AI in this version can just own me mercilessly.

Ya, I keep getting beat on Noble too...I suck =P

Last game I almost won, but couldnt get my votes for Dip Vic, and lost because of a stupid space launch. =/

Holy cow, you just got the game, don't expect to mcuh so soon. Noble is suppose to be the level playing field setting like Regent. I have not even finished by first game yet.

Lots of things to figure out and what to use and when, it will take some time. Try to keep your research up and hold off making too many units, until you can make Mace or at least swords.

You can take down towns, but it is best to bring along a few cats. I took a size 10 with a mace and 2 longbows, but waited until I drop the defense of the city to 0%.

note: when you lose you get the Dan Quayle rating regardless of score, after all he was the King of losers was he not?
Also I started at chieftan and won - now I am playing at warlord and I think I might have found my level for awhile -it is 1000ad and very close. Decided to limit myself to 6 cities. I play large maps, and have 5 other civs - dont like over crowding. Also learned a lesson in first game and am ignoring the prompts for what to build or research...lol the AI is running 5 civs and advising me yeah i trust that.

The leader score thing is really pathetic when you win the game. I got Abraham Lincoln (third from the top) on my first chieftain game. Then I played a noble game and I got Julius Caesar the #1 leader. I'm sure I didn't do that good. I'm still learning the game. I think those top leader spots should be reserved for playing a higher difficulty level.

My biggest problem now is barbarians. Seems like I never have enough military out to counter them.

I am thinking maybe the best way is to make one city that produces a LOT of hammers, and have it make patrol and/or sentry units to station around and chase barbarians.

One game I lost 3 cities to them....
