Hey there, I played civ 3 before, like a year or two ago, but never got into it and have only now decided to try it again. But is there some way to get more menu buttons on the main game screen? I'm sure there was more the first time I played it, and its kinda annoying having to remember which shortcut gets me to 'demographics', and not being able to go to the exact advisor i wanna see.

Here's a pic of how it looks to me at the moment(thumbnailed),

In fact even in the game menu it says things like the palace view can be seen by accessing the game menu or using the shortcut. So maybe there's some way to toggle a more detailed interface on?

don't know if you confuse it with the unit action buttons that pop up when an unit is active

Hmm nah I dont think its that. I just mean a menu where you can access the histogram, your score, top 5 cities, etc. I know theres shortcuts to get to them, but I thought there was a menu too you could use.

mmh, I usually use shortcuts, but IIRC there is a H for Histograph attached to the information field in the lower right?

Try going through all the F keys. You'll get all of your advisors (1-6 I believe) and then a bunch of other stuff. You can also use the buttons on the right side of the info box (bottom right corner, shows your current gov, what you're researching, gpt etc).

The menu buttons are the three in the top left of your screen. From left to right they are options, advisers and Civopedia. The number of unit actions shown when you select a unit can be changed from the preferences screen, activated via the options menu. Histograph etc. can be activated from the advisers menu.

There is :p.

Look at the lower right corner of that pick, where it shows your gvt-type and all that, where unit stats would appear once selected. Look the the right frame of the box. See that small "D" and small "H" there? Pressing the H goes to histogram, D to contacting other civs. Later on there will be an "E" which will open the espionage menu, and a "P" for palace view. Sometimes theres also an "O" if I remember correctly, which gives you the scenario overview (if there is one...)

You don't get to see the victory status immediately. The diplomacy button starts once you've discovered writing, the palace button once your citizens decide to give your palace an improvement.
The advanced buttons for your units you have to click on in "preferences", under the main menu icon, left upper corner.
I believe you can even choose to leave out the left upper icons in preferences :crazyeye:
