I want modern wonders & skyscrapers!!!

Everyone has got a wishlist for their admired architectures and improvements! They can be built in the after the space age (1970-....) for economic, cultural & tourism* value!

Here's a list of my modern buildings, skyscrapers & infrastructures! (Add yours and I'll compile!)

There will be modern wonders in the game, but they will mostly be American just as in previous versions (it's an American game).

yea but I wonder what are the wonders in Civ 5.. I am really sick of the old wonders even in BTS. It would be more interesting and realistic if we could have these new buildings, imagine building the Palm Islands.. (then it really appear outside the city!!)

No! wonders should be able to be built by anyone. can you name one of these modern buildings that a country like sumer controlled. it would unbalnce the game civs that died out before the modern era would be unbalnaced because no special buildings.

but in BTS we already see 'special improvements and units' for every civilization. I am sure there's something they can do? I try to make my make as similar to the reality (and I really TRY!!) lol. Imagine Taj Mahal in New York. Just doesn't sound right but I still build it anyway or I'll get thrashed. Oh well.

London Gherkin should be a negative wonder. You spend to little maintaining your city and you risk the appearence of the Gherkin.

Alright maybe we shouldn't have 'special wonders'. But I am sure some of these could be added to make the game interesting. don't you think so? These buildings are more for cultural and economic values since they only appear in the modern era. Like any other wonders like Statue Liberty/Effiel Tower/Hollywood/Rock n Roll/Broadway.

For example, by having Kalifax, it would generate 25% more yield for her 3 neighboring cities?

Even if that logic were used, China and the Arabs are both in the game, so both are represented.

Making unique wonders would be like giving certain civilazations (but not all for reasons one of my earlier posts explains) in addition to a uu a super unit that was ultra strong and could beat anything. the point is we don't need ubs on steroids even if it is cool to have ubs.

Alot of todays wonders is a bit boring unless you are an engineer (as I happens to be ) very practical (like huge bridges or tunnels). However there is some that stands out for example the Sidney Opera house and perhaps some of the man made islands in dubai.

(I wonder if world trade center could be in, it was a modern wonder (and old wonders are destroyed now also) but I guess it wouldnt look very good if some arab spy destroys it )

I thought of the Freedom Tower after the World Trade centre. Civ 5 can introduce Terrorists to replace Barbarians in the information age. Every civ is prone to terrorist attacks D

Hey, what about almost useless modern buildings, just to be built for the fun of it and to see them in the city ?
Or, generic bonuses for famous skyscrapers, like, I don't know, +1gold... and some nice looking buildings in your cities.

Most of those aren't wonders. Wonders are huge projects that take a lot of time and reasources to build, and we already have the main modern wonders that do take a lot of time and reasources to build. Imagine having the 'Turning Torso' having an effect with similar significance to the Eifel Tower? it would just be weird and unrealistic. Or perhaps I'm not understanding what you meant by this. Do you mean that tourist buildings add just one culture?

International Space Station is the only Great Wonder missing so far, really. The others are nice and large buildings, but what do they do for the civilization that built them??? I think a general building in your city called a "sky scraper" would suffice. You could even have a national wonder...call it "Trade center" or "Mega Building" or something like that.
