I want to use the ships!

I like using ships so I chose the following specs.

Standard size world
*Archipelago!!!
Arid
4 Billion
Cool

notice the asterix by archipelago? This is my Problem...
I wanted small continents which I can use ships to get to the other civs. This sucks because I want to have my own continent. Instead I get two HUGE continents with all the civs on one! Why is this? I dont have a save because I have this problem so many times.

It happens to me all the time. I want to do a game like yours and I get a huge continent with 5 civ on it! The good thing is I have a fast computer and restarting a new game to get a new map takes seconds

The map generaotr is overly strong in producing geologically 'realsitic' features, like extended mountain ranges and strings of island. Sadly, especially with much land chosen, this will lead to those sucky maps FU*K!

Never tried that... Water Coverage? Maybe increasing that would help... I don't know, give it a try.

Try continets with the most amount of water u can get
