the sages claim that only one NON settler is available per continent
I think what people were saying is that the Huts tends to reward you with a NONE more often if you have no NONEs on the continent when you pop a hut. Its as odds issue, I think... I know you can certainly have more than one NONE on a continent, but have not actually tested for it myself. )

And you're still a Spammeister, starlifter

Hey, I saw that! Small print did not evade my observation, LOL.... But anytime people like a thead it can't really be dead, can it hehe.... Plus this thread was brand new to me when I read it. I still need to go back and read the December-March threads.... maybe 30 or 40 resurrections, might suffice? Just kidding, LOL. About thread ressurections, that is. :)

I thought that SPAM stood for Spewing Projectiles And Misinformation -- & I have yet to see Starlifter provide such an inferior product. Granted it is a challenge to read all of his wisdom :crazyeye: and still have time left over to actually play :p but hey, that burden is on me :scan:

Lest anyone take the spameister comment by Ren out of context, he was not being insulting and it wasn't taken that way. :) I was teasing him back by bringing his small print note to a quote box, and the context goes back to some posts in OT (the Off Topic Forums). :goodjob:

Extra Note: This particular thread had been dead for several months when I made a post to it, which is called "resurrecting" a thread because it rises to the top (datewise), and sometimes people do such things just to up their post count (the whole post count thing is a never ending OT/Site Feedback discussion, LOL). Part of the joke is that I don't troll, hehe... unless it's for red barbarians in a Civ game ;).

Welcome to the Civ 2 GOTM,
smartin737 :).

BTW, I've got relatives in Austin (well, actually just east of it). Ya'll are getting lots of rain down there right now!

I've been playing civ2 at diety level for years. I know it inside and out. I tried playing a gotm that was emperor or prince and I didn't like it. All I researched was military tech, and build military units with sun tzu. No happiness problems, not much growth, it was pretty boring. So that's why I don't play, it's like a different game at the other levels. Of course I don't expect whoever runs it to change just for lil ole me :P It shouldn't be diety because many players, I imagine, wouldn't want to play.
Didn't see this option in the poll but that's my reason.

I would support GO2M instead of GOTM. Espacially when I have a well going fundy game, but lack of time to finish it :(

GOTM18 was actually my first attempt at Deity level. Although it was Fundy which indeed made the game easier (in terms of keeping the populace happy) I still would have played anyway.

Like the old saying goes "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game" and for the GOTM it doesn't matter
even if you are destroyed by the AI. :ar15:

I remember this discussion coming up during the December 2001 GOTM (9?), as I didn't have enough time to finish that game. I am one or two turns, though, from completing GOTM18! [dance]

I will participate in the GOTM when I have time, but I won't have time every month.
