I have been thinking about one possible upgrade to Foreign Advisor recently... I am not able to create it myself, but here it is and open for discussion or inspiration:

How about enabling the Foreign Advisor to also show attitudes (not only pacts) between various civilizations? When I want to know, what one civilization thinks of another, I have to ask in diplomacy dialogue, which is time-consuming. Also, it would be nice to have some reminder of current political "blocs" and foreign relations handy.

The idea itself is:
Would it be possible to modify the Foreign Advisor to take attitudes into account and show leaders, who like each other, closer and vice versa? The length of the line should be determined by the average of their respective attitudes. Possibly with some equalizing checks and balances to prevent overlaping of icons, sending worst enemies offscreen and problems in location of civs if, for example, two enemies share one friend they both love, which draws them together in terms of the chart.

Have you tried to click on an other civilization in the foreign advisor?
It'll show you the relations of the other civs, so you don't have to ask.

I know. The idea is to introduce some leader icon sorting to group leaders who like each other more to show global political blocs and tendencies in one screen. Imagine, for example, that you are an American leader, click on Foreign Advison and see (for example) Stalin and Mao together, but slowly drifting apart, you, Britain and Germany on the other side of the screen, Arabs somewhere on the middle, slowly moving towards Stalin and the Polish (some mod, I suppose :-) being vassals to Stalin, but located far away in the graph, annoyed with him and wanting eagerly to break away if possible.
Seems more intuitive and interesting to me.

Yes, I often stare at the GLANCE tab of the Foreign Advisor to see these relationships. That tab is disabled in the normal game, but easily enabled by changing a line in code to add the label. Or install the Unofficial Patch or the BUG mod to see it (and more).

I, too, would like to find a way to detect and present blocs of AIs that like each other, but how to display it clearly and with not too much work? I love the idea of showing a graph where closeness denotes happiness, but how do you show non-symmetrical relationships (Mao loves Stalin, but Stalin hates Mao)?
