well I think they should work on the actual battles before they make them look pretty, I'd rather have non random battles and crappy fight scenes than have epic battles that end up like this
Quick moves for me. Like on a chess board game, white knight @ C3 takes black queen @ E4. Straight to the point and down to the battle damage results. The game will take forever to finish if there was a movie for all units fighting.

It's a big forum, so you're probably not the only one.
I'd be willing to return to Civ I iconic graphics if it meant that the computing power it freed up went to greater complexity and more choices in the game.
I'm happy with Civ IV battle mechanics, it just annoys me that with stack attack & no animations on the AI still only attacks one unit at a time. I just want the battles to be over.
